BBC EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, 28, hasn’t changed a bit since TV childhood 14 years ago

Published date: June 23 2022

Jamie Borthwick has grown up in the public eye. The 28-year-old started playing Jay Brown on EastEnders in 2006 and is still a series regular today.

He first appeared on EastEnders on December 14 2006 after his fictional grandmother’s on-screen funeral. Jay was a troublesome kid and even got involved with a gang at one point.

He went on to live with Billy Mitchell and the two eventually moved in with Phil Mitchell. Jay has had numerous storylines since he came to Walford, most involving crime.

Nowadays, Jay remains best friends with Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and helps him navigate life after he was sexually assaulted. Fans have been over the moon with his performance and the palpable friendship between the two actors.

Jamie’s time on EastEnders has seen him grow up in front of the cameras. And while he’s been on the show for 14 years, he looks surprisingly similar.

The actor joined the show as a child and despite being 28 years old today, he has barely changed. He’s moved on from his buzzcut and now sports his ginger hair in stylish waves.

But other than the appearance of stubble, his face hasn’t changed much. He’s got the same mischievous look and cheeky smile now as he did back when he first started acting.

In an upcoming storyline, Jay is set to be enlisted into Frankie Lewis’ (Rose Ayling-Ellis) scheme to make herself seem successful to her old university friend. Jay will reportedly be roped into the scheme after Frankie is unhappy with the results of her photoshoot with Mick Carter and Rocky Cotton.

Fans who got word of the upcoming episodes were quick to point out that Jay and Frankie would make a perfect couple. However, others don’t think the two have interacted enough for it to be a viable storyline.
